CPH:DOX
CPH:DOX, Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival was founded in 2003 and is one of the biggest documentary film festivals in the world. CPH:DOX has a special focus on art, science and society. Supported by the international film community , CPH:DOX now attracts more than 100,000 admissions a year. The festival runs a strong industry platform with the co-production and financing platform CPH:FORUM, CPH:MARKET and the talent development programme CPH:LAB.
About
CPH:DOX continues to develop and expand, presenting a program that ranges from the works of major international directors to new talent, from large-scale theatrical releases to film/video works in the field between cinema and visual art. The program goes beyond traditional boundaries between disciplines and media, offering perspectives on creative crossovers between cinema, television and media art.
The best film festival in and for the world. We insist on freeing the transformative potential of art and documentary films, that is the potential to have a direct impact on the social context. The appealing form of the documentary films allows for the communication of complicated problems in an intimate, reflective and profound manner. And no matter whether the topic is political, philosophical, experimental or focused on a narrow section of the world, documentary film expands and questions the viewer’s conception of the world.
CPH:DOX doesn’t just show documentary films – we anchor them in social context through debates, artist talks, events and masterclasses. In the hope of creating real social transformation, CPH:DOX establishes a space for reflection, dialogue and opinion across the population, and with that making sure that the films and the problems they pose stay with the viewers long after they leave the cinema.
More than just a film festival. During the eleven days of the festival, CPH:DOX also presents concerts, art exhibitions, five whole days of professional seminars, a screening market, and the international financing and co-production event CPH:FORUM, as well as the film production program CPH:LAB and much more.
The next edition of CPH:DOX will take place March 19 – 30, 2025

Students
CPH:DOX’s educational programme UNG:DOX (i.e. YOUTH:DOX) offers the documentary film festival experience within an educational context for a young audience with up to 50 unique screenings during the 12 days of the festival. UNG:DOX provides educational talks and debates as well as educational materials in relation to screenings of documentary films for teachers and students in primarily high school. We encourage teachers and their students to partake in educational screenings and talks in cinemas and cultural institutions in Copenhagen, but also in selected cities across the country.
